Get a Good Laugh With These Football Funny Instances

Saturday, June 25, 2011

Known to the rest of the world as American football, this sport is fast and, at times, can give the appearance of being ruthless. Everyone is running at full speed, colliding, and changing directions, seemingly on a dime.

What makes football humorous

  • Accidental kicks of the ball
  • Mad scrambles
  • Interceptions that go unseen by some players

Plus, there’s always the possibility of the football changing hands from one team to another as a result of an interception or fumble (called a turnover). Rapid transfers of possession of the football that some players might not be aware of can generate some awkward, yet fun-filled times for onlookers. These random events cause some people to consider football funny due to some of the bloopers and unexpected miscues that result.

One of the most common funny football bloopers is the fumble that no one seems able to recover. A fumble is when somebody has possession of the football and, while running or getting tackled, loses control of it. It bounces out of the player’s hands and hits the ground. It now is considered a loose ball, and whoever picks up the ball gets possession of it and a chance to score. That’s when the action can be mad and furious as players on both teams, with the purpose of the game within their focus, fight each other to gain control of the football.

Accidentally kicking the football while trying to control a fumble is a part of the game. At this point in time, control of the lost football can prove elusive, and players from each team might gain control of it on a fleet, temporary basis.

The ball has the potential to look as if it has a life of its own, defying as many as seven different players who touch it to gain control of a difficult fumble.
Another common blooper comes when the ball is intercepted, but players on the team that initially passed the football don’t realize it and continue acting as if nothing happened. Sometimes, one player accidentally can tackle one of his own teammates thinking it’s a player on the other team who has the ball. This is only funny to others, as it’s quite frustrating to players on the field. These types of chaotic bloopers make football funny in addition to making it exciting to watch.
