Can the Litebook Elite Light Treatment Device Really Treat SAD?

Thursday, March 24, 2011

Do you completely hate the winter season, the gray skies and worse of all the seasonal depression that often kicks in?

There are heaps of treatment choices that claim to help with this ever so daunting ailment, for example the Litebook Elite, but do these treatments actually work or are they smoke and mirrors?

Seasonal Depression is savage and for those of us stuck living in northern cities that have very limited daylight in the winter months, it can seem just about intolerable.

Symptoms usually are:

- Difficulty dropping off, staying asleep, or sleeping too much
- Fatigue or shortage of energy
- Overeating or a poor appetite
- Heavy weight gain or weight loss although you weren't dieting
- Loss of interest or pleasure in activities
- Feeling down, miserable, or hopeless
- Feeling bad about yourself or feeling you were letting yourself or family down
- Difficulty concentrating
- Feeling fidgety or nervous ( moving around more than ordinary )
- Moving or talking so slowly that others might have spotted

Some unlucky folks suffer with all these but many might only suffer from 1 or 2 of them. Now chances are you are mindful of what Seasonal Depression is and what you need to understand is does a device like the "Litebook Elite" really work?

Well, the cool thing is yes.

Infact the mayoclinic.com itself even mentions that light treatment is a definite seasonal affective disorder treatment and there are countless other resources to support this. So it is reasonable to say first of all that yes light therapy works but what about the Litebook Elite?

The Litebook Elite is the new generation of light therapy, the results of years of study and development in handheld light treatment devices. This new model features a custom lens and diffusion system which, combined with the high-performance white LEDs that all Litebook products are famous for, produces a uniform field of bright yet soothing light and when used everyday , the Litebook Top-notch will improve your mood, increase your energy level and revive your sleep patterns. The majority notice results within 30 days - often sooner.

A word of warning however if you've a history of eye illness including, though not restricted to, macular degeneration, have experienced laser remedial eye surgery in the past 30 days, or if you are now taking any medicines including certain antibiotics which render you photosensitive ( intensely sensitive to light ). If so then you need to consult with your ophthalmologist or medical care supplier before employing a product like this.

Overall however , the Litebook Elite is light weight, cartable and you can take it with you anywhere. Although it is tiny, it delivers as much light as one of the massive desk size units. It evens has a nice carry case and adapters for recharging the battery.

I particularly would advocate the Litebook if portability or space are key points to consider for you. This device is compact and extremely movable.

I will admit however , the small size that makes it so cartable is also Litebook's biggest negative. The area of light projected is tiny enough that you'll feel a bit like you have got to sit in one position the whole time using it.
