If you’re like most parents with kids in soccer, you’ll want to take a ton of soccer photos of your kid flying down the soccer field doing their best to score a goal. Or, if the child is the goalie, then you’ll want to capture him doing his best to prevent a goal.

Soccer Photos

Now, here are a few tips for taking great photos that will maximize your chances of taking fantastic, amazing, and memorable pictures of your child engaged in any soccer match.

Some generics that work for soccer

  • Take plenty of film or memory-card space
  • Get as close as possible to the playing field
  • Take extra batteries or fully charge digital cameras

One of the first things you’ll want to do is make certain that your back is to the sun when taking a photo. If you’re facing the sun, shadows created by the sun usually are too harsh and create a less vibrant photo. Captivating photo images do not materialize by chance, and the odds of taking the best photo possible comes when photographers turn their backs to the sun.

It’s desirable to get as close as possible to the action in order to get the best shots you can. Getting as low to the ground as possible, even on your belly, is a trick of taking quality soccer shots. Image is important, especially in soccer photography where the apparent size of players can be judged according to the camera angle when the photograph was taken. The larger players captured on film add to the amount of action in the photograph.

Also, don’t forget to take extra batteries along, or a fully charged camera if it’s a digital camera. Make sure you have plenty of film or room on your digital camera’s memory because it is often necessary to take more photos than normal in order to get a few that are truly amazing.

Since this is action photography, you want to make sure that you have a lens with a fast shutter speed in order to prevent blurring, thus allowing you to capture the action quickly. Following these simple tips will help you take amazing soccer photos of your kid while he or she is playing soccer.
