Married couples vow to stay together till death do them part, but many go back on that promise and get divorced. A lot of hostility can develop between couples over time despite the fact that they truly loved each other in the beginning of their relationship. People commonly mistake lust for love, and that becomes obvious when they get divorced from each other within five years of the date they got married. After all, real love should continue to exist through the good times and the bad. If there isn't a lot of love left in your marriage, how are you supposed to deal with it?
It's hard to continue to live with a person that you no longer feel connected to. Even if you have financial obligations and children together, the bond just isn't there any longer. It's never too late to save your marriage as long as you're willing to give it your all. You will need to be willing to put in a lot of work to get it done though. You will need to take time out of your schedule to discuss issues and feelings with your partner. There came a time when you no longer felt the same way about your spouse, so you need to try to identify it. What caused you to feel this way? You and your partner will need to discuss your true feelings honestly and openly. Don't try to place all of the blame on your partner either.
If you feel that it's too much trouble to fix the issues in your marriage, you may resign yourself to living with the way things are. It may seem silly to do this, but there are actually a few reasons why some people would prefer to do so. Although it's usually not the best idea, some couples stick things out so that their children don't have to experience going through a divorce. Children know when something is wrong, and maintaining your union strictly for their sakes can cause more problems than it solves. Many people aren't willing to accept the fact that their marriage has been a failure. Others decide to stay because living on their own may not be financially possible.
Staying together does work out for some couples. Communication is still key as you and your spouse attempt to work out an arrangement that will satisfy each partner. It's best that you don't let your friends' marriages determine how happy you are in yours. Every marriage is as unique as the partners who share it, and what works for others isn't necessarily what's best for you.
