Easy Steps to Mixing Hydroponics Nutrients
Monday, September 9, 2013
The mixture of hydroponics nutrients in your solution is one of the deciding factors for the success of your garden. When you get the mixing of hydroponics nutrients correctly, certainly you will have greater yields. But when something goes wrong, you will just waste time and money. But don't fret, mixing hydroponics nutrients can be pretty easy. You just need to follow these tips and guidelines and you can mix the nutrients with excellence.
1.Only use distilled water. The water you will use should be run through a filtration system, like a reverse osmosis system. Do not use tap water, as it often contains ion and other elements that could cause harm to your hydroponic system.
2. Pour water into a food-grade plastic container. You could use an empty one-gallon or four-liter milk jug if your reservoir is relatively small. Use a 5-gallon twenty-liter water container, for a larger reservoir.
3. Measure out the nutrients. Use a sterilized filter paper and a plastic chemical scoop to hold dry chemicals. By using a graduated cylinder or a beaker, measure the liquid nutrients for Hydroponics. If you will use a full 5-gallon water container, measure out: five tsp or 25 ml of CaNO3; 1/3 teaspoon or 1.7 milliliters of K2SO4; 1 and 2/3 or 8.3 ml KNO3; 1 1/4 tsp (6.25 ml) of KH2PO4; 3.5 teaspoons (17.5ml) MgSO4; and 2/5 teaspoon 2 milliliters trace element compound.
4. Rest a small plastic funnel into the mouth of your water. You can mix ingredients without using the funnel, but with it, you will prevent spills that can cause an imbalance in your solution.
5. One by one, add the nutrients to the water. See to it that you do this step slowly to prevent overflows, spills, and other similar loss of nutrients.
6. Put the cap back to the container and then shake. See to it that it is nicely screwed or snapped into place. Shake the water container with both hands for approximately 30 seconds to one minute to mix the ingredients well. If the cap cannot be fixed tightly in place, you may be required to hold it with one or two fingers as you shake. If the container is too huge or too heavy for you to shake, you could just stir the nutrient solution with a long piece of sterilized steel or other rod. But take note that shaking is still the best method of thoroughly mixing the ingredients. Stirring can also be effective so long as you perform it for a longer span of time.
7. Store the solution until ready for use. Keep the water container in a dark, room temperature place and remix the nutrients before use.
If you are still uncertain on how to correctly mix nutrients on your own, or you simply wanted to have pre-mixed hydroponics nutrients that are effective and that can give you excellent yields, check out the website of CX Hydroponics at www.CXHydroponics.net.
