Do You Know The Three Parenting Advice For Parents Of Toddlers

Saturday, July 23, 2011

Every parent aims to be the best. The problem is that there are so many challenges you have to face as a parent. Also, there are major differences among kids in terms of behavior and personality. Some parenting techniques may work for some kids but not others. But there are fundamentals that every parent should know.

These techniques could affect children development on a psychological level. The fundamentals of being human, such as learning how to eat and poop, should be taught at this stage of growth. The toddler stage begins when he is old enough to go to school.

Here are some of the essential parenting tips that every parent should implement.

1. Start Potty Training

Potty training should always be a priority for kids. If you start too late, you will feel the pain of having to deal with rising diaper prices every month. Also, it may be very difficult to potty train your child when he has become accustomed to using diapers. The earlier you start, the faster your child can learn how to poop and urinate alone.

If you're a working parent, hire a nanny who can be as patient as you when it comes to your child. Scolding the child when he poops in his pants is not a good thing to do. The child will associate negative reaction whenever he poops and that will hinder his progress. The potty training should be filled with positive feelings for your child to understand that he isn't being pressured.

2. Deal With Picky Eaters

Children will always have preferences when it comes to food. However, you should draw a line between indulging your child in what he wants to eat, and implementing a nutritious diet. Dinner should be filled with nutritious food, which may be wasted if your child has already consumed too much snacks. Junk food items are filling because they’re either too sweet or too salty. He may not be able to eat the right kind of food if he has a choice between vegetables and junk.

3. Encourage Independence

If you want your child to function well in school, you should encourage him to think for himself at home. Give him chores to do like fixing his toys before bed time. You can also let him choose which clothes he wants to wear for the day. This sense of accomplishment is something that will help him develop his mental capacity better.
