Michigan, a Great Place for a Vacation

Michigan can make a great vacation location any time of the year. There are stunning beaches, a great deal of nature to experience and exciting cities to check out.

Not only is Michigan the home to the five Great Lakes, but also more than 11,000 other lakes and 36,000 miles of rivers and streams. With all the state’s water, boating, canoeing and kayaking are all options while on vacation here. Or, for anglers, a great fishing spot is never too far away with all the bodies of water. If water activities and sports are not one of your preferred pastimes, the beaches in the state are also gorgeous locations for sunbathing and playing volleyball.

Michigan is home to numerous great camping sites also. The state is home to more than 100 state parks and recreation areas as well as more than 140 state forest campgrounds. These parks offer rustic camping opportunities or lakefront cabins. Considering that not every person enjoys camping, there are a great deal of resorts and hotels in Michigan as well. These can be located near areas great for outdoor activities as well as in interesting cities.

Again, for outdoor enthusiasts, trails and pathways can be discovered intertwining through the state of Michigan. These make for great backpacking trips or for an easy one-mile loop that families can walk for sightseeing. These trails are also great for biking and in the winter, some are perfect for cross-nation skiing as well.

For a vacation that does not involve the outdoors, one of the state’s eclectic cities would make an excellent stop. One selection could be Ann Arbor, Mich. This city comes packed with art, tasty cuisine and an entertaining downtown. There are yearly festivals and the stunning architectural campus of the University of Michigan to discover. For a much more touristy experience, one might decide on the city of Frankenmuth. This city is home to the world’s largest Christmas shop, restaurants well-known for their chicken dinners and numerous activities for families. Yet another great city for a getaway is Kalamazoo, Mich. This city constantly has something going on, whether it be a festival, live music or a show at one of the cities numerous theaters. Kalamazoo has an enjoyable downtown packed with great restaurants and unique bars for individuals looking for an exciting nightlife experience.

Michigan is a wonderful state. It is beautiful and has several fun cities to check out. Whether you are into outdoor activities or are looking for a place to get out on the town, Michigan has it all.
